bad blogger
By Stef | October 3, 2008
I’ve been a bad blogger. For some reason, I just haven’t felt like writing in the past week. There have been some changes at work…and, of course, there’s the election. I’m not talking about either of these things here, but they’re occupying some of the parts of my brain that I usually reserve for crafty things. I’ve been busy and crafty, but I just haven’t had the energy to write about it.
The Handwoven project is finished and I’m putting the finishing touches on the article and photos before sending them off. I’m really pleased with the results. So pleased, in fact, that I’ll probably keep this one for myself.
I’ve also finished my addition to the collaborative necklace project. I’m planning to take pictures this weekend and send the necklace off on Monday. Here’s a link to a description of the jewelry exchange, posted by Llyynn.
K. came over for a play date last Friday and I’ve been working on electroforming some of her glass beads. I haven’t had a chance to photograph them yet, but they’re very, very cool. I’m hoping to have time this weekend to post pictures.
Keith keeps asking me what I want for my 40th birthday. That’s a tough one because I’ve been pretty indulgent with respect to acquiring things this year - the sale of the big loom helped me justify the purchase of a couple of things I might not have purchased otherwise. I think what I really want is not to acquire more things, but to spend quality time playing games, making art, and spending time in the studio. To me, this would be the best way to welcome another decade of life.
I don’t think things are the answer. Unless, of course, they’re these shoes*:

I think these have the potential to be very fun with hand-dyed ribbons/fabrics and handmade buttons and other adornments. And I’m certainly not going to purchase these for myself…
*O.K. I have to be honest. Another thing I’d really is a hot tub. When Keith & I traveled to Sedona last year, we soaked in the hot tub every evening after our long hikes. I couldn’t believe how much better my muscles felt - the soreness just drained away. I’ve also been missing the soaking tub I had at my old house, so that would be another option. There’s nothing like a soak in the tub when I’m having a bout of insomnia.
Of course, this is quite a bit more expensive than the aforementioned pair of indulgent shoes, so it may take a couple more years of saving. I’m in no hurry, though - time spent saving gives us more time to plan the design.
