Was wondering how you were able to do this firing. Did you have them in a small kiln? or did you have some sort of basket they beads set in? I love the results. I have been wanting to try this on a larger scale, but still smaller than pottery. Can you help me out?

There aren't many yet - the deadline is mid-February, so maybe people are waiting until the last minute.

I wasn't aware of the link (pun intended) between the story and your grandmother's chain until now - that's really cool!

I liked your use of the chain even before I knew the connection - it's so much more meaningful now!

What an interesting approach to art! What a neat piece you've created and how cool that you have bits to use from your grandmother.

Is there a place where all of the pieces inspired by the book are pictured?

A couple of things: you can rip the sleeve back a ways and taper it. If you are uncomfortable with ripping, bring it to me, I have lots of experience. And if you want the sleeve to be cuffed, go down a couple of needle sizes for the ribbing. It won't draw in much, otherwise.

If the body is too big, you can rip that to the armhole and decrease as well. The time to do it is before you get the collar on (ask me how I know). The beauty of a top down sweater is that you can fix fit issues as you go.

Something I have been seeing on sewing blogs, and is applicable to knitting: when you are not so experienced, you tend to screw up a lot because you are new and that is part of learning. When you are more experienced, you tend to screw up a lot because you are challenging yourself and that is part of learning.

I'd love to take credit for the bee comment but I can't. Unfortunately I also can't remember where I picked it up :-/

There's just something so perfect about the meandering path the bee is taking - I really love that one...
